[Paris Fashion Week Hoopla]…Part 3
Here’s a final look at the rest of my favorite collections from Paris Fashion Week. I really love how colorful & pattern-filled most of the collections were!
Alexander McQueen
Wunderkind
Hermes
Elie Saab
Tsumori Chisato
Sonia Rykiel
Zac Posen
Vanessa Bruno - This line was just really feminine & pretty..lots of great beach looks
Commuun - loved the splashes of royal purple and emerald green in this collection
Chloe - great mix of ethnic inspired silhouettes (long tunics, Montenegro-like pants)
Limi Feu - there were suspenders in this collection…that sealed the deal for me!
Yohji Yamamoto - All black, but all hot!
Giambattista Valli - Oranges and yellows – verry summer-y!
Paul & Joe – really feminine & summery dresses and shorts!
Collette Dinnigan - very beautiful silver & white dresses
Vivienne Westwood – I loved the pattern use…there were plaids, stripes, and lots of color
Cacharel - very vibrant!
Talbot Runhof – perfect looks for a summer evening gala
[Paris Fashion Week Hoopla]…Part 2
In the time since I posted my first round up of Paris Fashion Week, some more of my favorite designers have shown their collections. I was quite pleased with some (Yves Saint Laurent) and disappointed in others (Chanel – 88 looks BTW!!!). Regardless, I’m still throughly enjoying the bursts of color, the creative silhouettes, and overall wearability of many (not all though, hahaha!) collections. Here’s a gander at some more of my faves:
Kenzo
Yves Saint Laurent
Damir Doma
Gareth Pugh
Jean Paul Gaultier
Haider Ackermann
Alexis Mabielle
Other moments of greatness…
Sharon Wauchob – I loved the copper color used in many of the looks
Vionnet - very feminine and chic skirts and dresses. Perfect for a spring day – there’s this yellow dress that is just gorgeous!
Costume National – Color. Color. Color!!!
Hussein Chalayan - Chalayan’s collections can’t be done justice by posting photos (otherwise I would have). If you’re familiar with his work, then you know that his garments usually have some sort of moving or transforming component. So the link above is to a photo set of his collection, but search for a video…it’s much more stunning that way!
Martin Grant – LOVED the hot pink, cream, and black used in these looks.
Azarro – I loved EVERY SINGLE cocktail dress in this collection.
Tao – Though this isn’t a favorite of mine, I did enjoy all the gothic influences of this collection. There were also a lot of dropped waist dresses which made me think of Wednesday Adams circa 1933
Veronique Leroy – chic and sexy gray sheers with splashes of yellow = I like!
[Paris Fashion Week Hoopla]…Part 1
Ah yes…I can’t believe that we’re almost at the end of the mainstream fashion week season. Of course there’s always a fashion week going on somewhere in the world…and I do plan on covering Japan Fashion Week and Africa Fashion Week…but until then, let’s take a look at what’s been going on in the Land of Romance…
Paris Fashion Week seems to be the week when the most opulent, creative, and innovative designers show. While Milan had a plethora of gorgeous and wearable S/S 2011 looks, Paris has a plethora of collections that certainly appeal to those that love fashion as wearable art – like myself. My loves, Viktor & Rolf finally showed…and while their collection wasn’t my favorite of their work, it was still awesome. Hussein Chalayan also showed, and his work was stunning as well. Lanvin’s collection was beyond amazing – and brought out some of my favorite celebs too! Gaultier (another love of mine) also brought some amazing pieces to the runway, so I think its safe to say that Paris Fashion Week is thus far, the best one in opinion. But enough of my blabbering, let’s get on to the collections, yes?
Issey Miyake
Lanvin (my, was every look in this collection gorgeous!)
Nina Ricci
Viktor & Rolf
Others I loved…
Akris - I loved the kelly green’s and red used. Plus the sportswear separates were oh so chic!
Nicolas Andreas Taralis - I loved the black and grey that was used prominently in these collections.
Hakkan – awesome collection of futuristic whites
Carven – neat silhouettes…I loved these pleated wide leg shorts that were shown
Anne Valerie Hash - loved the taupes, creams, and greys that were used in this collection
Andrew GN – tons of 1940′s pantsuit silhouettes
Balmain – edgy looks that would be awesome for a night out on the town
