While I normally detest over the top footwear (I’m looking at you Jeffery Campbell), I do love it when it’s more for art’s sake rather than trying to actually be wearable. I think that’s what these are supposed to be – art. Meleard has designed shoes for Alexander McQueen, so it’s no wonder that these would be sculptural masterpieces.
I don’t feature menswear around these parts often, so when I do hopefully it’s a treat! And I think this lookbook by British footwear label Mr. Hare will do the trick…
Not only are these hard bottoms oh so dapper, but I’m really digging the photography of this lookbook. The colors really pop and I like the use of the Oriental rugs. Any boyfriend of mine would so be getting a pair of these – so hot!
Oh, Nicholas Kirkwood…you really know how to tempt someone into debt, don’t you??…
Wow. Now…I don’t own too many flashy shoes, but if I did, these from Kirkwood’s A/W 2010 collection would be in my closet in a heartbeat! My favorites have to be those metallic saddle shoes and those gray satin stiletto pumps! While that last pair above is a bit too avant garde for my taste, I do really love that color!
Check out these AMAZING Chucks that are inspired by iconic Jimi Hendrix album artwork and photos…
HELLA cool. These are supposedly available in certain Converse retailers as of August, so hit up their website or hit the mall if you want a pair…like I do…I don’t normally wear sneakers, but I’d rock the mess out of those denim, military jacket ones!
*Shoutout to Gwen over at Bay Girl! for posting about these, I saw them there first and I had to share
There’s really not much else I can say about this except that these are badass…love the colors and I love the homage to Keith Haring. They come out in 12 styles (including a ballerina flat!) in Feb of 2011 so start saving! You can learn more about ‘em here.
These are crazy amazing right here….
The sculptures you see above are the handiwork of artist Gabriel Dishaw who creates renditions of kicks out of scrap metal, computer components, and various other wires and gadgets. He also makes “junk art” of other figures and objects, but I think these of Nike Dunks and Air Jordans are the coolest!
Okay…now as a disclaimer, I’d like to voice that I, personally would never wear these. The colors are far too flashy and clashy for my taste, however, I do love them for the mere fact that they are kicks that have superheroes on them. They’re geek chic…and anything that’s geek chic is alright by me!
Before we get its started for the day, I wanted to say that I have opened up a Formspring account. There’s more information over at Jade Pheenix…and since all things more “me” are over there, I will be posting any questions and answers there! Check it out and ask away, good people!
Th ADORABLE flats and slippers above are from Molly over at HydraHeart. These slippers (which are quite popular amongst brides) are 100% vegan and they’re handmade! They look super comfortable…and I love those spring green ones…cute!
Today’s designer is great for offbeat accessory design. Manimal has a really great collection of jewelry and footwear that uses a lot of leather and inspiration from the Southwest U.S.
Manimal is helmed by designer Kristen Lombardi whom was inspired by the craftmanship and aesthetic of the American Southwest after a visit in 2004. The pieces in the Manimal collections are handcrafted and are influenced by the attention to detail that was a great part of the cultures in that region of the U.S. I really like the moccasins of Manimal. They look comfortable and I bet they’re well made.
I’ve always thought I never have had enough shoes…however, when I was cleaning up my room the other day, I kept finding pair after pair of shoes scattered around…until I realized that many of them won’t even fit in my closet anymore! Of course, and sane person would take this as a sign to stop…I however take this as a sign to just keep building upon my shoe collection….which is why I want these TOMS right here…
A lot of folks I went to college with wore TOMS shoes often and I always thought they looked really comfortable. The philosophy behind the brand – their One for One Campaign (which donates a pair of shoes to a child in need with every purchase made) is even more of an incentive to buy 1 or 2 pairs of the above…which ones should I get? Which ones would you get?!
