Patrick Nagel

Ever notice the artwork that adorns the windows and walls of nail shops? If so, then you’ve probably noticed that the artwork looks an awful lot like a certain iconic Duran Duran album…if you’re thinking Rio, then you’re right! Patrick Nagel was commissioned to design the cover art for the 1982 hit album after the band had been impressed by many of Nagel’s board, paper, and canvas illustrations. Nagel is said to be influenced by Japanese Woodblock art and many of his work feature simplistic but stylized renderings of the female form. I think his work is simply stunning. And I totally love his use of color and the art-deco feel is work has. Magnificent!
