Loving…Alexander Henry Fabrics

Every designer has the one product or material pertaining to their craft that they absolutely loves to work with. Some are product junkies and always have the latest sewing machine, rotart cutter, or serger. Others are notion whores and hoard various trims, buttons, zippers, and snaps. Then you have those like myself whose bane of their design existence is fabric. I cannot get enough of it! In fact my favorite part of the design process is selecting the material. Consequently I have WAY more fabric than time to sew it, but it’s comforting knowing that the fabric will “speak” to me when its time to transform it into wearable art.

Anyway, I have my favorite textile designers/companies and Alexander Henry Fabrics is one of them.

I’m drawn to the detail and vibrancy of many of the fabrics in the Alexander Henry collections. There’s so much variety including everything from beautiful Japanese imagery to fun hunky cowboys. Here’s some of the prints I’ve purchased:

Still waiting for its destiny...

Used for appliques for a circle skirt

Transformed into a Bowler bag

Transformed into a large Hobo bag

If I were a textile designer, I would definetly want to work for Alexander Henry. The prints are unique and always provide room for surprise inspiration!
