Teeth + Hair = Jewelry

I came across this really creepy…yet interesting collection of accessories made from human teeth and hair. These items are designed by Polly Van Der Glas and are handmade in Melbourne using sterling silver. The hair is sourced  from India and/or China and the teeth are said to be sterilzed and donated from locals.

The hair pieces are cast in oxidized metal, which I think is actually pretty cool looking. Hair was widely used in jewelry during the Victorian era, usually as part of a piece to honor a deceased loved one. So I suppose, this isn’t that far-feched after all.

As an FYI, Van Der Glas says that teeth are hard to come by, so she graciously accepts donations!
