The Harbin International Ice & Snow Sculpture Festival

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is going on in Harbin, China and it is breathtaking. Once you get over the cold part, snow and ice can be very pretty and these ice sculptures are good evidence of that. The festival is in its 26th year and has featured sculptures of the Sphinx, the Colosseum, the Taj Mahal, and many other world landmarks as well as gorgeous spiral staircases, shapes, and columns. I think what makes these sculptures so beautiful to look at are the way the designers use lights to light up the ice just right.

We had an ice palace in St. Paul a few years back and it was really pretty…but this festival definitely tops what I saw!

Cool…pun intended!
