Artist of the Day…Allen Levy

Allen Levy’s work is really fascinating to me because it’s multi layered and requires second glances to get the full gist of what’s being said. When I look at them, I see landscapes, but instead of them being literal, I see landscapes as they would appear in a dream…they have that sort of hazy quality to them.

Levy states that his work is created by chances as he layers, mixes, and pours his paints to creat each new piece. He is not a trained artist, but rather self-taught and even gave up a career in the corporate world to focus on his painting full time. He’s shown in galleries across the nation. With paintings that are named after such interesting concepts as “Alchemy”, “Destiny”, and “Evolution”, I can see why – these paintings are quite ethereal and interesting.
