Artist of the Day…Glennray Tutor

Hopefully you’re just as wowed by these photorealist works by the amazing Glennray Tutor. My jaw literally dropped when I first saw images of his work because they are intensely vibrant and striking. They’re still life’s yet they drawn you in and look SO real!

Glennray Tutor is from Missouri and has been painting for the past 40 years, but focused on photorealism in the 1980’s. His goal with his works are “to get the viewer to accept the images as real…to interpret them as more real than real.” You may have noticed that his works also tend to have a central subject: canned goods, toys, candy…and the reason for that is because those are the items that are the most vivid for Tutor (which stems from his childhood). I also noticed that his paintings invoke  and almost comic strip feel.

I really like the vibrancy and vintage look to every single one of these paintings. I would LOVE to own a print…and I’m definitely going to be researching other photorealist artists, because these works are just…wow!
