Artist of the Day…Iv Orlov

Pattern & color is the dominate trait of today’s artist, Russian based Iv Orlov. I love his patterns and illustrations because they seem to be inspired by 50’s & 60’s drawing styles.

Iv Orlov’s illustrations have been featured in many magazines and design books including Forbes and Men’s Health. I love how a lot of his prints look like the were made using woodblock techniques…there is a very blocky, bulbous look to how he creates forms and shapes. I also love his color use – they are very fun! be sure to check out his flickr for more!
